If you’re anything like me, you love nothing more than spending a lazy afternoon curled up in a cozy chair with the latest book by one of your favorite mystery writers. Add a steaming cup of cocoa and a plate of shortbread cookies to the mix, and your day comes close to being perfect, doesn’t it?
A “'fraidy-cat” by nature, I’ve always loved reading mysteries. Life was pleasant but not terribly exciting for a girl growing up in bucolic western Massachusetts a number of decades ago. Always a daydreamer, I sought my thrills in the pages of the books that lined the shelves of the school library. I can still remember how enthralled I was when, in the sixth grade, I read the eerie tale of the Headless Horseman in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
That story, along with the wildly popular Nancy Drew books, catapulted me into the world of mysteries. Then a neighbor introduced me to the joys of Agatha Christie, and my love for the genre blossomed into the passion I have for it today.
My short story, Talkin’ Turkey, has been published in a 2012 anthology released by Untreed Reads Publishing. The anthology, titled THE KILLER WORE CRANBERRY: A SECOND HELPING, is available for purchase and download at Untreed Reads Publishing, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
